Maxwell’s Auto has been a cornerstone of the Vancouver Island community for decades, earning a trusted name in the automotive industry.
LEGACY
Founded in 1964 and incorporated in 1966 under the name Ernest A. Maxwell Enterprises Ltd., the business originally operated as Maxwell's New & Used Auto & Truck Parts. Our legacy in Drag Racing and the Automotive Industry
Along with owning and operating Bart’s Automotive in Langford and the Highlands of British Columbia, Bart has had a strong passion for high performance automobiles since attending automotive classes at Belmont School in the late 70’s.
Bart raced his Red, 1957 Thames with detailed airbrush design by
Dwight Lockhart at Western Speedway in 1986.
Drag racing became family fun when Bart and Colleen’s two children joined the race, figuratively speaking in 1987 and 1989.
When Bart and Colleen incorporated Genuine Collectibles in 2000, their children were eager to step in and help the family business and thus begun the family legacy that has turned into Maxwell’s Auto Center and Genuine Collectibles Inc. Bringing collectible moments in history to your fingertips, offering invaluable information about the automotive industry and supporting our local economy.

A Note of Gratitude and Reflection
Our story is not just our own
Our story has been shaped by the quiet strength of those who always gave without being asked. In every community, there are people who step into caregiver roles, who make sure no one goes without, who work harder than anyone will ever know so others can have a chance to grow.
We give thanks
We carry deep gratitude for those individuals, especially the women and men in our family and community who gave their time, their resources, and their love so freely, to make sure everyone was heard. Their sacrifices often went unseen, but their impact remains built into who we are today.
And we give back
Now, as adults, with the means and independence, it’s on us to remember the people who helped us get here. The ones who made sure we were fed, cared for, and supported when we had nothing. Gratefulness is more than a feeling, it’s an action. Checking in, showing up, and giving back is how we honor the foundation they built for us.
A reminder to pause, reflect, and reach out. As time goes on, it’s essential that we consider how we were capable of achieving our best, and make sure we don’t leave behind the people who helped get us here.
Whether you’re looking for custom solutions,
vintage parts, or a trusted partner for your next project,
we’re here to help.
